Dr. Schmittat is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Capital Markets Group and Head of Corporate Clients and Liability Management, Europe. He is based in the firm’s Frankfurt office.
Dr. Schmittat has extensive experience advising corporate clients on complex refinancings and capital market issuances. He provides debt advisory services to clients and advises them along the entire business cycle, from growth and expansion projects, amend-to-extends, and covenant resets to challenging restructuring situations. Dr. Schmittat is familiar with all relevant financing instruments ranging from classic bank loans, promissory notes, bonds, mezzanine, and asset-based financings. His broad and reliable network among bankers, investors, and alternative lenders offers clients access to the relevant financing sources at the best available terms.
Previously, Dr. Schmittat was a Managing Director focused on debt advisory and financial restructuring at GCA Altium, which was acquired by Houlihan Lokey in 2021.
Prior to joining GCA Altium, Dr. Schmittat spent more than five years with DC Advisory Partners.
Dr. Schmittat holds a Ph.D. from the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel, where he also studied Business Administration majoring in Corporate Finance and Taxation.
