Aninda Dhar

Vice President

Mr. Dhar is a Vice President in Houlihan Lokey’s Transaction Advisory Services practice, specializing in M&A tax services. He is a transactional attorney with extensive experience in federal and international tax matters, including cross-border tax due diligence and tax planning for private equity, corporate, and family office clients. Mr. Dhar’s recent transactions include the $250 million acquisition of a transportation company and U.S. tax planning for a major Australian apparel company. He is based in the firm’s New York office.

Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Dhar worked at major accounting firms, a major law firm, and a Fortune 500 company. In these positions, he advised on inbound and outbound transactions, buyside and sellside tax due diligence, and global tax planning.

Mr. Dhar is a frequent speaker in the New York area on various tax topics, including The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. In addition, he is a prolific author who has been published in academic journals and numerous trade publications on a variety of tax subjects, including tax treatment of foreign goodwill and going-concern value, the 20% pass-through deduction under Section 199A, and regulations under the new Section 163(j). Sample articles include “Foreign Musical Acts and U.S. Taxation” (Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal) and “Tax Concerns for Foreign Investors in New York Real Estate” (Real Estate Weekly). 

Mr. Dhar holds a B.A. from Brandeis University, a J.D. from Boston University School of Law, and an LL.M. from New York University School of Law.
