Christopher Russo

Managing Director

Mr. Russo is a Managing Director and member of Houlihan Lokey’s Technology•Media•Telecom Group. He is a recognized industry leader and innovator in digital sports media and technology. Mr. Russo is based in the firm’s New York office.

Previously, Mr. Russo served as Senior Vice President, New Media and Publishing, for the National Football League (NFL). In that role, he had broad P&L responsibility for the digital media and publishing business units and oversaw all day-to-day operations, including content, advertising sales, marketing, and business development. He completed digital media transactions with total value in excess of $1 billion, including arrangements with Sprint, eBay, Yahoo, CBS Sports, AOL, and Sirius Radio. He also restructured the NFL’s print publishing business, driving enhanced profitability to its magazine, book, and photo licensing division. Mr. Russo received the SportsBusiness Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award for three consecutive years and is a member of the SportsBusiness Journal Hall of Fame.

In addition to his experience at the NFL, Mr. Russo previously served as Executive Vice President, Franchise Programming & Marketing, for New Line Television, a Time Warner Company. In that role, he developed and produced news, entertainment, and sports television programming and served as Executive Producer for several television documentaries. Mr. Russo’s television experience also includes his tenure as Vice President, Promotion Marketing, for the NBC Television Network, creating marketing campaigns for shows such as Seinfeld, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Cheers

Mr. Russo holds a B.A. from Northwestern University and an MBA from Harvard University. He is also an Adjunct Instructor at NYU’s Tisch Institute for Sports Management, Business, and Media.
