David Ho


Mr. Ho is a Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Oil & Gas Exploration and Production Group and is responsible for developing the firm’s energy investment banking business in Asia. He is based in the firm’s Hong Kong office.

Mr. Ho has extensive M&A transaction experience in the energy sector. His notable M&A mandates prior to joining Houlihan Lokey have included advising Petronas on the acquisition of Progress Energy (C$5.9 billion); CIC on its private equity investment (C$250 million) in MEG Energy; Enerplus on the sale of its 15% project interests in the Joslyn Oil Sands Project to Occidental Petroleum; and BlackRock Ventures on its C$2.6 billion sale to Shell Canada.

Mr. Ho joined Houlihan Lokey in 2018 with over 15 years of investment banking experience in North America and Asia. Previously, he was an Executive Director at Moelis & Company in Hong Kong, where he focused on cross-border M&A transactions. Prior to this, Mr. Ho worked for over 10 years in energy investment banking in Calgary, Canada, including progressive roles with RBC Capital Markets and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He also worked for Anbang Insurance in Canada as an Investment Director with a focus on acquisition opportunities in the energy sector. Mr. Ho started his investment banking career with Rothschild in Toronto, Canada, where he gained valuable experience in M&A and restructuring advisory services for clients in the telecommunications, financial services, and mining industries. 

Mr. Ho holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He is also a CFA charterholder.
