Mr. Berka is a Senior Managing Director
at Houlihan Lokey and Global Head of the firm’s Financial Advisory Services
business. He was a member of the Board of Directors prior to Houlihan Lokey’s
IPO in August 2015. Mr. Berka is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
A frequent speaker at conferences and
symposia, Mr. Berka was a 25-year senior member of the American Society of
Appraisers, a 15-year member of the Valuation Advisory Committee of the ESOP
Association, and an instructor in the “Valuation of Business” continuing
education course for the California, Oregon, and Washington CPA Societies. He also
has testified as an expert witness in valuation matters in court and has been
engaged by government agencies to conduct valuation-related work. In addition, he
was the managing editor of Financial Valuation: Businesses and Business
Interests, published by Warren, Gorham, and Lamont, and has authored
numerous articles on valuation topics in a variety of publications.
Before joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr.
Berka was a Financial Analyst in the Corporate Investments Department of
Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., where he analyzed the feasibility and
structure of Metropolitan’s debt and equity participation in leveraged buyout
transactions.
Mr. Berka holds a B.S. from Oregon
State University and an MBA from the University of Oregon.
