Mr. Schmitz is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Capital Markets Group. He is based in the firm’s Frankfurt office.
Previously, Mr. Schmitz was a Managing Director focused on debt advisory and financial restructuring at GCA Altium, which was acquired by Houlihan Lokey in 2021.
Mr. Schmitz has extensive expertise in leveraged finance transactions ranging from middle-market LBOs to complex public-to-privates in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and the Nordic countries. Moreover, his experience includes financial restructurings of corporate clients as well as LBO transactions ranging from amend-to-extend solutions to debt-for-equity swaps.
Prior to joining GCA, Mr. Schmitz spent more than six years with DC Advisory. Before that, he was a Director of CIBC World Markets in London and spent over six years with the Royal Bank of Scotland Leveraged Finance team, working in Frankfurt, London, and Paris. He has also worked for Rabobank International.
Mr. Schmitz holds degrees in Business Administration from the Fachhochschule Aachen and Coventry University.
