Sam Scanlan

Vice President

Mr. Scanlan is a Vice President in Houlihan Lokey’s Mergers & Acquisitions Group. His experience includes both buyside and sellside M&A transactions, activist advisory, and strategic alternative reviews. He has successfully managed and executed M&A transactions for publicly traded and privately held companies across a variety of industries. Mr. Scanlan is based in the firm’s New York office.

Mr. Scanlan’s recent experience includes Firestone Building Products Company LLC’s acquisition of Gaco Western, LLC; the sale of SL Industries Inc. to Handy and Harman Ltd.; the sale of Ebuys Inc., dba ShoeMetro, to DSW Inc.; and Genco Shipping & Trading Ltd.’s acquisition of Baltic Trading Ltd.

Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Scanlan was an Associate in the Business Analytics group at Booz Allen Hamilton with a focus on Applied Economic Analysis for the Department of Defense. He worked on a variety of acquisition initiatives involving analytical and strategic budgetary support for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

Mr. Scanlan graduated with honors from Johns Hopkins University, earning both a B.A. and an M.A. in Economics. He holds an MBA in Finance and Accounting with distinction from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
