Chinese-Dutch deals have fallen to an all-time low in the Netherlands, according to Rob Oudman, Houlihan Lokey’s Head of Corporate Finance, Benelux.
Despite the fact that Chinese investors have been welcome in the EU for some time, Beijing now only wants strategic acquisitions, with suspicion displacing enthusiasm. In parallel, Dutch policymakers, like other western policymakers, have implemented or strengthened measures to protect companies and assets “of national interest” from being acquired without government consent.
