Houlihan Lokey Advises Bishop Street Underwriters, a Portfolio Company of RedBird Capital

Transaction: Bishop Street Underwriters - Redbird Capital Partners - Landmark

Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce that Bishop Street Underwriters (Bishop Street), a portfolio company of Redbird Capital Partners (Redbird), has signed an agreement to acquire Landmark Underwriting Ltd. (Landmark), a U.K. managing general agent (MGA) operating in the London insurance market. The transaction was announced on 25 November 2024 and is subject to FCA regulatory approval.

Bishop Street is based in Chicago and focuses on partnering with MGAs as well as niche underwriting teams. Bishop Street aims to combine its best-in-class reinsurance executive team’s vision with RedBird’s strong track record, expertise, and network in the financial services sector to build a differentiated platform that is uniquely positioned to capitalise on secular growth tailwinds in the industry.

RedBird is a private investment firm that builds high-growth companies with strategic capital solutions alongside founders and entrepreneurs. The firm currently manages $10 billion in assets on behalf of a global group of blue-chip institutional and family office investors.

Founded in 2017, Landmark provides multidisciplined product offerings globally to brokers and clients. It has a dedicated focus on complex and specialty reinsurance across multiple classes, including professional indemnity, property, directors and officers, general liability, and marine. Landmark’s bespoke and client-centric approach enables it to deliver tailored insurance solutions with exceptional efficiency, backed by a range of A-rated and other capacity partners. From its headquarters in London, Landmark has a foothold in the U.K. and Australia with a growing presence in Canada and Europe.

Houlihan Lokey served as the exclusive financial advisor to Bishop Street. This transaction further strengthens Houlihan Lokey’s leadership in the insurance brokerage and MGA sector and on cross-border strategic transactions for its clients. These capabilities have recently been further enhanced through the expansion of Houlihan Lokey’s Financial Services Group via the acquisition of Waller Helms Advisors and Park Sutton Advisors.
