Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce that Homecare Preferred Choice, Inc., doing business as AseraCare Hospice (“AseraCare”), has been acquired by Amedisys, Inc. (“Amedisys”). The transaction closed on June 1, 2020.

Founded in 1994, AseraCare is a leading provider of hospice services, caring for more than 2,100 patients daily across 44 agencies in 14 states. With an executive office in Plano, Texas, and an administrative support center in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the company employs more than 1,200 hospice professionals across its offices and agencies. AseraCare operates hospice agencies in Alabama, California, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Amedisys is a publicly held, leading healthcare-at-home company delivering personalized home health, hospice, and personal care. More than 2,600 hospitals and 67,000 physicians nationwide have chosen Amedisys as a partner in post-acute care. This transaction further strengthens Houlihan Lokey’s leadership position in the hospice and homecare sector, having advised on six transactions in the past two years.
