Houlihan Lokey Advises Clara-Pensions
Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce that it advised Clara-Pensions (Clara) on its recent institutional capital raise. All of the capital was sourced from Wilton Re, the global reinsurer. Wilton Re joins Sixth Street, the global investment firm and Clara’s existing capital provider, in supporting the further growth and development of Clara.
Clara is the member-first consolidator for defined benefit pension schemes. Its consolidation model serves as a bridge to the insured market for Britain’s defined benefit pension schemes and their members. When a scheme enters Clara, its assets and liabilities are supported by capital from Clara’s capital providers, thus securing a lower-risk journey to buyout. Only after it has fully secured promised benefits for its members is there any return to its capital providers.
Wilton Re is a global reinsurer that specialises in providing M&A solutions for life insurance and related markets. Its industry expertise and long-term investment horizon make it a strong additional partner for Clara’s business.
Houlihan Lokey acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Clara. This transaction further strengthens Houlihan Lokey’s leadership in the pensions universe and highlights continued momentum and leadership in the financial institutions sector, which also includes specialist finance, fintech, insurance, and asset and wealth management.
