Houlihan Lokey Advises Educaedu
Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce that Educaedu, a Great Hill Partners (Great Hill) portfolio company, has been acquired by Miura Partners (Miura). The transaction signed on 31 December 2021 and closed on 13 January 2022.
Educaedu is the leading Spanish digital marketing services provider to the education and training and employment industries. The company develops indispensable online portals and comparison websites, supported by deep and long-standing relationships with its customers, which allow more than 100 million annual users to easily search thousands of courses and jobs. With operations across Europe and LATAM, Educaedu has an online presence in 20 countries overall and is considered the market leader in Spain and Mexico.
Miura is a Barcelona-based independent private equity firm, specialised in investing and developing middle-market companies in southern Europe, with a clear focus on innovation and growth. With c. €1 billion assets under management, Miura has made over 40 investments since 2008. Over the course of this period, Miura has established a proven track record of consolidation and internationalisation on behalf of its portfolio companies, with the aim of generating sustainable value in the process.
Miura is partnering with Educaedu’s co-founders and co-CEOs, Fernando Bacaicoa and Mikel Castaños, and the existing management team in the transaction. The investment will support Educaedu to accelerate its ambitious growth and development plans, both organically and through M&A, mostly focused on the LATAM markets. The transaction provides an exit for Great Hill, who invested in Educaedu in 2010.
Houlihan Lokey served as the exclusive financial advisor to Educaedu and Great Hill. The transaction is a prime example of cross-border collaboration between Houlihan Lokey offices and builds on the firm’s market-leading position in the education and training sector.
