Transaction: Houlihan Lokey Advises Henkels & McCoy Group

Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce that Henkels & McCoy Group, Inc. (Henkels), a leading utility services firm, has been acquired by MasTec, Inc., a leading infrastructure construction company. The transaction closed on December 30, 2021.

Founded more than 98 years ago, Henkels is an industry-leading utility services firm providing critical infrastructure design, construction, and maintenance services to the power, communications, gas distribution, and pipeline services end markets. Henkels is one of the largest U.S. private electrical power transmission and distribution utility services firms and the 14th largest U.S. specialty contractor, according to the recent 2021 Engineering News-Record rankings. Established in 1923 and headquartered in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, the company employs approximately 5,100 people across more than 60 offices.

MasTec is a leading infrastructure construction company operating mainly throughout North America across a range of industries. MasTec’s primary activities include the engineering, building, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of communications, energy, utility, and other infrastructure. The transaction supports MasTec’s long-term strategy to expand in the fast-growing electric utility services market with incremental recurring master service agreement revenue.

Houlihan Lokey served as the exclusive financial advisor to Henkels and assisted in marketing, structuring, and negotiating the transaction. This deal exemplifies Houlihan Lokey’s dedicated focus on and continued success in the utility services sector.
