Houlihan Lokey Advises Klap

Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce that Klap Verzekeringsmakelaar (Klap), a portfolio company of Nedvest Capital Beheer (Nedvest), has been acquired by The Ardonagh Group (Ardonagh), a leading international insurance distribution platform. The transaction closed on 5 June 2023.

Founded more than 165 years ago, Klap is a leading independent Dutch insurance broker and provides a range of specialist commercial and personal insurance products to corporate and individual customers.

In 2020, Nedvest acquired a majority stake in the business, and during that period, has supported Klap in delivering strong growth, both organically and inorganically through acquisitions where Klap is recognised as a market-leading consolidator. In the past three years, Klap has completed more than 15 acquisitions, complementing the existing product proposition and strengthening its footprint in the Netherlands.

Ardonagh is a leading international independent insurance brokerage with more than 9,000 employees in 150 locations worldwide and capabilities across a broad spectrum of specialist insurance lines, including retail and specialty broking to individuals, SMEs, and large corporates.

Houlihan Lokey served as the exclusive financial advisor to Nedvest and Klap.

This most recent transaction further strengthens Houlihan Lokey’s leadership in the insurance vertical across Europe, adding another Dutch transaction to those recently completed in Scandinavia, Germany, the UK, France, and Spain.
