Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce that Mabuchi Motor Co., Ltd. (Mabuchi Motor) has acquired Oken Seiko Co., Ltd. (Oken Seiko), a global manufacturer of small pumps used in medical, automobile equipment and home appliance applications.
Founded in 1954, Mabuchi Motor (TYO: 6592) is a global manufacturer and distributor of small electric motors. Headquartered in Matsudo, Japan, its state-of-the-art products are used in automotive appliances, light electric vehicles, precision and office equipment, home appliances, power tools, car audio-visual equipment and many other applications. With sales of approximately JPY 135 billion (USD 1 billion] and employees of over 20,000, Mabuchi Motor operates in all key regions including Japan, Asia (ex-Japan), the Americas, and Europe.
Oken Seiko is a leading manufacturer of rolling pumps with a history of over 40 years. Its small-sized pumps are used worldwide in a wide range of fields such as healthcare, medical, automotive, and home appliances. Oken Seiko has a long track record of manufacturing products both domestically and globally, operating several production facilities in Japan (Nagano Prefecture) as well as China (Dalian) and Vietnam (Dong Nai Province).
Through this transaction, Mabuchi Motor will acquire and utilize Oken Seiko's technology, know-how, R&D capabilities and product lineup of rolling pumps, and promote sales of unit options that integrate small motors and pumps. Mabuchi Motor will also propose value-added solutions including unit sales to their customers, create synergies between its group in the key focus areas of the 3M (Mobility, Machinery, Medical) space, and strive to realize its vision and corporate philosophy in the long term.
