Houlihan Lokey Advises MAP Communications

Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce that MAP Communications, Inc. (MAP) has acquired the North American telephone answering services business of Stericycle, Inc. (NASDAQ:SRCL). This acquisition will establish MAP as one of the single largest providers of telephone answering services in the United States.

MAP Communications is a well-respected leader in the telephone answering service industry. MAP owns dozens of call centers across the U.S., leveraging a proprietary software platform to centrally manage and operate the business. Headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia, MAP has been in operation since 1990 and is 100% owned by its employees through an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP).

Stericycle is a U.S.-based business-to-business services company and leading provider of compliance-based solutions that protect people and brands, promote health, and safeguard the environment. Stericycle serves more than 1 million customers in all 50 U.S. states and 21 countries worldwide with solutions for regulated waste management, secure information destruction, compliance, customer contact, and brand protection. Stericycle was founded in 1989 and is headquartered in Bannockburn, Illinois.

Houlihan Lokey served as the exclusive financial advisor to MAP and successfully arranged a preemptive opportunity for MAP to acquire the business from Stericycle. The transaction highlights Houlihan Lokey's knowledge and experience in the call center sector, as well as the firm's capability in advising on complex corporate carve-outs.
