Houlihan Lokey Advises Tempcover

Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce that the shareholders of Tempcover, a portfolio company of Connection Capital, have sold Tempcover to RVU, the owner of uSwitch, Confused.com and Money.co.uk. The transaction closed on 29 July 2022.

Tempcover, based in Fleet, Hampshire, is an insurtech business specialising in the provision of temporary insurance cover, typically providing short term policies from 1-hour to 28-days available through its website, digital apps and in partnership with automotive and insurance groups. It offers simple, cost-effective insurance delivered in minutes to customers requiring short-term cover, for example when buying or borrowing a car. As the leading marketplace for the temporary motor insurance segment, Tempcover provides technology enabled market access for a range of insurance partners, leveraging its vast dataset.

Over the past four and a half years, Tempcover has added multiple new underwriters to its insurer panel; improved economics to reflect its strong loss ratios; developed technology significantly through the launch of a new award-winning UX across its website and app that has vastly increased conversion; and rolled out new back-end CRM systems and data warehousing, allowing better and more effective use of data.

These developments laid the foundation for Tempcover’s growth and provide multiple opportunities to the management team and RVU to further expand Tempcover in the coming years.

RVU operates a number of digital brands that empower people to make confident decisions. In the UK these include Uswitch, Confused.com, Money.co.uk and Mojo Mortgages, all of which offer consumers the ability to compare and switch across a range of utilities and financial services products.

RVU is jointly owned by US-based Red Ventures, a global group of influential brands, digital platforms and strategic partners, as well as Silver Lake, GIC and PSP Investments.
