Transaction: Houlihan Lokey Advises X-Technology Group

Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce that X-Technology Group, which is known for its high-tech sportswear brands X-Bionic and X-Socks, sold a majority stake to XCOX AG, an investment vehicle of the Swiss private investors Christian Wenger and Oliver Pabst.

X-Technology Group, based in Wollerau, Switzerland, has established X-Bionic and X-Socks as genuine cult brands over the past few decades. Its founder, Professor Bodo Lambertz, who has made a name for himself in the industry as a productive inventor, is now handing over majority control to XCOX AG, an investment vehicle of the Swiss private investors Christian Wenger and Oliver Pabst. Professor Lambertz will remain with the company in the capacity of advisor, significant shareholder, and innovator.

Under the leadership of Professor Lambertz and through X-Bionic and X-Socks, X-Technology Group has become a leading provider for textile technologies. The Plus X Award, the world’s largest innovation award for technology, sports, and lifestyle, has named the brand X-Bionic “Most Innovative Brand of the Year” 13 times in succession. In total, X-Technology Group has more than 800 international registered patents to its name, along with over 600 awards and more than 1,120 medals won at international championships. Accordingly, the founder and his team have created an outstanding foundation on which the new majority shareholders can develop the brands X-Bionic and X-Socks even more proactively.

With Christian Wenger, who was named “Swiss Business Angel of the Year” in 2019 by the Swiss Private Equity & Corporate Finance Association (SECA), and Oliver Pabst, former CEO of Mammut and member of the management board at Bogner, the company is gaining two additional thoroughbred entrepreneurs who will manage the team and business operations.

“Together we are the perfect trio to take our brands further on the global market. I am absolutely delighted to accompany Christian, Oliver and the rest of our team toward a promising future. Our company is kickstarting a new chapter in its growth,” Professor Lambertz said.

Houlihan Lokey served as the exclusive financial advisor to X-Technology Group and assisted the founder, shareholder, and management, mainly in marketing document preparation, due diligence setup, investor approach, and negotiation tactics, while acting as sparring partner throughout the transaction process.
