Transaction: Symbio

Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce that Symbio, a portfolio company of Fortino Capital Partners, has been acquired by Celonis.

Symbio was founded in 2005 by CEO Oliver Zeller and Managing Director Steffen Ploetz and has its HQ in Aschheim, near Munich. Symbio is an innovation leader in enterprise business processes and quality management software that enable its customers to model, optimize, and control their daily business processes. Companies such as the BMW Group, Deutsche Bahn, the European Space Agency, E.ON, Fresenius, ZF Friedrichshafen, and many more rely on Symbio to establish a platform to digitize a knowledge network for the sustainable optimization of their future. Symbio has a large footprint in the DACH market with a global service offering.

Since 2011, Celonis has helped more than 1,350 of the world’s largest and most respected companies to produce maximum business value for minimum waste. Its process intelligence platform uses industry-leading process mining technology and AI to present companies with a living digital twin of their end-to-end processes. For the first time, everyone has a common language for how the business is running, visibility into where value is hiding, and the ability to capture it. Celonis is headquartered in Munich and New York, with more than 20 offices worldwide.

The acquisition of Symbio marks the launch of the Process Navigator, developed jointly with Celonis, which enables compliant and intelligent process execution across all users of an organization by centralizing core process KPIs and insights with customers’ process models and guidelines. This is the first time organizations can provide managers and employees with a unified experience for consuming process best practices against real-time performance metrics and monitoring. The integration of Symbio supports Celonis in its pursuit to address top enterprise concerns and stay ahead of the competition.

Houlihan Lokey acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Symbio.
