Mr. MacNamara is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Financial and Valuation Advisory business. Working closely with numerous alternative asset managers, he specializes in valuing illiquid equity, debt, and derivative investments, analyzing complex transactions, and building advanced models for complex investments, including structured products and derivative investments. Mr. MacNamara has significant experience with modeling, programming, and data analytical techniques, including Intex, Monte Carlo simulations, C/C++, R, and Python. He is based in the firm’s New York office.
Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. MacNamara was a Summer Associate at FMV Opinions, a Los Angeles-based valuation firm. Earlier, he was an Associate at SJ Associates, an accounting firm in New York. Mr. MacNamara has co-authored articles on complex financial topics that have been published in the CPA Journal, Financier Worldwide, and the Futures & Derivatives Law Report. He also co-authored a chapter in a recently published textbook Financial Engineering: The Evolution of a Profession.
Mr. MacNamara earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University at Albany, State University of New York, with Dean’s List and Presidential Scholar distinctions. He graduated with distinction and Beta Gamma Sigma from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University, earning an MBA with specializations in Finance and Accounting. Mr. MacNamara received the Dean’s Award and the Marcus Nadler Money Marketeers Award and was a Glucksman Fellow, having published a paper on portfolio risk measurement in the finance department’s working paper series. He was also a co-portfolio manager for the MPSIF Value Fund, a student-run endowment fund, and was responsible for the fund’s portfolio analytics function. Mr. MacNamara is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society New York.
