Mr. Fanning is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Technology Group and leads the firm’s banking efforts in the broadband infrastructure space. He is based in the firm’s Boston office.
Previously, Mr. Fanning was a Managing Director and Partner at MVP Capital, an independent advisory firm that provided a range of advisory services to clients in the technology, media, and telecommunications sector, prior to its acquisition by Houlihan Lokey in 2020. While there, he co-led the firm’s efforts in both the broadband infrastructure and media sectors. Mr. Fanning has advised on numerous buyside and sellside M&A transactions as well as a variety of corporate financing engagements (both equity and debt raises).
Mr. Fanning’s recent transactions include M&A transactions for Palisade Infrastructure, Point Broadband, Stratus Networks, Intelligent Fiber Networks, Bluebird Networks, and Everstream Solutions as well as financings for Surf Broadband, Logix Networks, First Digital Telecom, Highway 89, and GiGstreem.
Prior to joining MVP Capital, Mr. Fanning worked in Bank of America’s Global Corporate and Investment Banking group. While there, he spent four years primarily involved in large corporate credit products, underwriting, and structuring syndicated bank debt transactions across both the aerospace and defense and forest products industries. Mr. Fanning was also involved in a $21 billion leveraged buyout; underwriting the financing for a $700 million acquisition; underwriting and arranging the financing for two REIT conversions; and several additional financing arrangements ranging in size from $100 million to $11 billion.
Mr. Fanning graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Finance from Boston College. He has successfully passed all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst Program and earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2006.
