Mr. Smith is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Business Services Group and leads the firm’s Transportation & Logistics practice. His coverage of and involvement in the sector spans over two decades, including nine years leading last-mile delivery, warehousing, and trucking businesses. Mr. Smith is based in the firm’s New York office.
During his investment banking career, Mr. Smith has advised both public and private companies on transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $40 billion. He has broad experience across the transportation and logistics sector and brings a unique combination of financial, strategic, and operating insight to engagements.
Before joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Smith founded and led the Transportation & Logistics practice at Capstone Partners, building it into one of the most active advisors to transportation and logistics companies in the lower middle market. He also served as the interim Chief Financial Officer of Fusion Transport, a sponsor-owned logistics company. Previously, Mr. Smith was with UBS and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where he worked on Ken Moelis’ team, and Wasserstein Perella, where he worked directly with Bruce Wasserstein and ghost wrote Big Deal: The Battle for Control of America’s Leading Corporations.
Mr. Smith holds a B.A. and M.A. from Stanford University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
