Mr. Funk is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Technology Group. He is based in the firm’s Miami office.
Previously, Mr. Funk was a Managing Director at MVP Capital, an independent advisory firm that provides a range of advisory services to clients in the technology, media, and telecommunications sector, prior to its acquisition by Houlihan Lokey in 2020. While there, he closed more than 175 deals, including M&A, sale-leasebacks, and private debt and equity capital placements totaling more than $2.0 billion in value.
Mr. Funk’s transaction experience includes representing multiple private-equity-backed tower companies in divestitures, negotiating sale-leasebacks for wireless carriers and publicly traded broadcasters, and raising capital for tower developers and in-building wireless providers.
Prior to joining MVP Capital, Mr. Funk worked at Nations Media Partners, a Kansas City-based investment banking firm specializing in various areas of telecommunications, media, and publishing, for seven years.
Shortly after beginning his career in the late 1990s, Mr. Funk was asked to speak on a tower finance panel at a conference in New York. Since then, he has been asked to moderate or participate on panels at several state-level, regional, and national conferences on the topic of shared wireless infrastructure.
Mr. Funk graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Communications from Washburn University and has been honored as an Alumni Fellow.
