Mr. Lowell is a Senior Advisor in Houlihan Lokey’s Financial Restructuring Group. He has more than three decades of experience in investment banking, buyside investing, and corporate law, focusing on distressed debt and financial restructurings in EMEA and the United States across a broad range of sectors. Mr. Lowell is based in the firm’s London office.
Prior to re-joining Houlihan Lokey in 2025, Mr. Lowell established and led the Financial Restructuring Group at Gleacher Shacklock LLP in London, where he advised on some of the market’s largest and most complex financial restructurings, including Thames Water, Orpea, Hime SAUR, Seadrill, PPC Ltd., The Co-op Bank, and HETA Resolution AG (Hypo Alpe Adria Bank). Previously, he was a Partner at One East Partners, a hedge fund based in London and New York, where he focused on special situations and illiquid private investments. Mr. Lowell helped establish Houlihan Lokey’s London Financial Restructuring Group in 2003. Before becoming an investment banker, he was a corporate lawyer at Cleary Gottlieb and Gibson Dunn, where he focused on Chapter 11 reorganizations. Additionally, Mr. Lowell has done consulting work for The World Bank and has presented restructuring case studies at Columbia Business School and Oxford University’s Saïd Business School.
Mr. Lowell holds an MA in Jurisprudence from Oxford University and an LLM from Harvard Law School.
