Mr. Kagan is a Managing Director at Houlihan Lokey and is based in the firm’s New York office. He has approximately 25 years of investment banking experience, including mergers and acquisitions, and the issuance of both public and private debt and equity securities and corporate restructurings. Mr. Kagan’s experience includes cross-border advisory mandates in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
Before rejoining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Kagan worked for UBS Securities LLC in New York in the Leveraged Finance and Restructuring groups. Earlier, he was an Associate with Houlihan Lokey.
Mr. Kagan’s prior experience includes providing advice to major parties-in-interest in a broad range of transactions, including American Commercial Lines Holdings, Cablecom, Constellation Oil Services, Cornerstone Propane Partners, Dana Holding, Danaos, Delphi, Eagle Bulk Shipping, Eitzen Chemical, Exide, Genco Shipping and Trading, General Maritime, General Motors, Gulfmark, Horizon Lines, Noble Corporation, NTL Communications (Institutional Investor’s Deal of the Year 2002), Ocean Rig, Odebrecht Oil & Gas (2018 IFLR Award), Oro Negro, OSX, Overseas Shipholding Group, Pacific Drilling (The Banker Deal of the Year 2019), Petroleum Geo-Services, Preferred Sands, Schahin, Seadrill, Stelco, Telewest Communications (IFR Magazine’s Restructuring Deal of the Year 2003), Telesystem International Wireless, Torm, Truvo, Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts, Ultrapetrol, Valaris, and Visteon.
Mr. Kagan earned a B.B.S. in Finance, with honors, from the University of Cape Town and an MBA from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. He is also a CFA charterholder and a member of both the Association for Investment Management and Research and the CFA Society New York.
