Mr. Laffitte-Smith is a Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Financial and Valuation Advisory business, where he specializes in portfolio valuations. Since 2008, he has provided valuation and financial advisory services to public and private enterprises, corporate clients, business development companies, and private equity institutions. Mr. Laffitte-Smith’s experience encompasses a wide range of industries, including aerospace and defense, automotive, software, construction, consumer products, e-commerce, engineering, financial services, government contracting, information technology, manufacturing, publishing, retailing, telecommunications, and wholesale distribution. He is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.

Mr. Laffitte-Smith leads valuation engagements of illiquid securities for financial reporting purposes. These illiquid securities include debt instruments (e.g., revolvers, term loans, unitranche loans, subordinated debt, and mezzanine debt) and equity securities. He has experience providing valuation services related to fairness and solvency opinions; fair value accounting; purchase price allocations; goodwill impairment analyses; stock-compensation-related valuations; intangible asset valuations; ESOP security formation and annual ESOP valuation updates; and M&A transactions.

Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Laffitte-Smith was a Director in the Valuation Services group at Cherry Bekaert. Before that, he worked at CTS Capital Advisors, Stout, and Booz Allen Hamilton.

Mr. Laffitte-Smith holds a B.S. in Finance and an MBA from Virginia Tech. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser.
