Mr. Smith is Head of Houlihan Lokey’s national Accounting and Financial Reporting Advisory service offering and has more than 20 years of experience serving clients in the U.S. and U.K. as well as internationally. He is dedicated to providing corporate and financial sponsor clients with accounting and financial reporting advisory services in conjunction with private and public market M&A, strategic alliances, divestitures, and financial restructurings as well as accessing the global capital markets through private and public debt and equity raises. He is based in the firm’s Dallas office.
As part of Houlihan Lokey’s Transaction Advisory Services practice, Mr. Smith’s role includes giving insights on financial reporting matters involving U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and other international GAAP matters; providing practical advice in the drafting of offering memoranda, credit agreements, registration statements, and other financial reporting matters; and assisting clients in executing domestic and cross-border transactions.
Mr. Smith has executed several domestic and cross-border acquisitions and divestitures for clients, delivering specific advice related to regulatory compliance, carve-out methodology, purchase accounting, pro forma preparation, technical accounting advisory, and GAAP difference identification and adjustments. He has also executed and managed multiple engagements regarding both public and private initial equity offerings and secondary spinoffs in the United States and internationally, including driving issue resolution between bankers, lawyers, auditors, and advisors as well as serving in a project management capacity.
Mr. Smith holds a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, where he graduated with distinction. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Illinois and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.
