Mr. Kao is a Senior Vice President in Houlihan Lokey’s Financial and Valuation Advisory business, where he specializes in the valuation and financial analysis of all major property types for REITs and institutional real estate investors. Mr. Kao has over a decade of real estate experience in various roles, including valuation and financial analysis, asset management, and real estate development. He is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
Some of Mr. Kao’s notable engagements include the transaction and valuation support for an $800 million retail portfolio sale in Hawaii; valuing approximately 600 senior housing properties for a major healthcare REIT as part of a purchase price allocation; and leading the valuation segment of a litigation engagement involving a private real estate company with a $1.5 billion real estate portfolio. His experience also includes years of purchase price allocation work for numerous publicly traded REITs.
Before joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Kao was a Senior Associate at Alvarez & Marsal in their Real Estate Advisory Services Group. Prior to that, he was a Senior Associate in Duff & Phelps’ Real Estate Services Group.
Mr. Kao holds a B.S. in Finance/Entrepreneurship and a Master of Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California.
