Mr. Basford is a Vice President in Houlihan Lokey’s Financial and Valuation Advisory business. He has more than a decade of experience advising a wide range of alternative asset managers on valuing their illiquid positions. Mr. Basford’s focus is on private equity and private credit. He is based in the firm’s London office.
Mr. Basford has extensive experience in executing valuations of businesses and their underlying securities for tax, financial reporting, and strategic planning purposes, as well as performing decision-support analyses for transactions under consideration.
Mr. Basford regularly performs quarterly and monthly valuations for private credit and equity clients in support of transactions and fund reporting requirements. His experience spans a wide range of industries, giving him a broad perspective on sector-specific valuation considerations and market dynamics. Mr. Basford works closely with fund management teams and auditors to ensure valuations are well-supported, defensible, and delivered on tight reporting timelines. This breadth of experience across fund sizes and sectors allows him to bring practical, market-informed judgment to each engagement.
Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Basford worked at Lincoln International as a Vice President in the Portfolio Valuation Group, where he led recurring portfolio valuation engagements for large and medium-sized fund managers.
Mr. Basford holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Florida and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
