
Matt Dodd
Managing Director Head of Accounting and Financial Reporting AdvisoryMr. Dodd is a Managing Director and Head of Houlihan Lokey’s Accounting and Financial Reporting Advisory practice, bringing more than two decades of experience guiding public and private companies through complex transactions and transformative events. He advises corporate clients and financial sponsors on the full spectrum of accounting and financial reporting considerations arising from M&A, capital solutions (IPOs, SPACs, debt offerings, and growth and structured equity financings), and financial restructurings. Mr. Dodd is based in the firm’s New York office.
Additionally, Mr. Dodd oversees Houlihan Lokey’s public company readiness and execution platform, coordinating a multidisciplinary team that spans technical accounting, SEC reporting, accounting operations, FP&A, systems, sustainability, and investor relations. Under his leadership, the group delivers integrated solutions that help clients establish scalable reporting infrastructures and meet the heightened governance and disclosure demands of the public markets.
Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Dodd spent more than a decade with PwC, where he specialized in IPO preparedness and led the engagement that took Spotify public via direct listing in 2018. He subsequently joined Spotify’s finance and accounting organization, playing a key role in maturing the company’s finance function in the aftermath of its listing.
Since working at Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Dodd has continued to advise both strategic acquirers and private equity sponsors on numerous M&A and capital markets transactions, offering practical, solution-oriented guidance on technical accounting and financial reporting matters under U.S. GAAP and IFRS.
Mr. Dodd holds a first-class honors degree in Management Studies and Mathematics from the University of Leeds. He is a Chartered Accountant in England and Wales, a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the states of New York and Alaska, and a Project Management Professional.
