Mr. Kavney is a Vice President in Houlihan Lokey’s Board and Special Committee Advisory and Transaction Opinions practices within the firm’s Financial and Valuation Advisory business. He advises boards of directors, special committees, general partners, and trustees on transactions involving conflicts of interest, including controlling stockholder and management buyouts, related-party transactions, and other situations in which fiduciaries require independent financial advice. Mr. Kavney is based in the firm’s Atlanta office.
Mr. Kavney has rendered fairness, solvency, and other transaction opinions to public and private clients in connection with take-privates, dividend recapitalizations, spin-offs, reverse mergers, and securities issuances. He also advises boards on shareholder rights plans and activist situations and performs valuations in connection with put and call rights. Mr. Kavney’s clients span a range of industries, and he brings particular depth in financial services and related technologies.
Mr. Kavney co-authors Houlihan Lokey’s annual Going Private Transaction Study and Transaction Consideration Study. He has presented on valuation and M&A topics at the American Bar Association and the Association for Corporate Growth.
Mr. Kavney graduated with highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology, earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a Certificate of Finance.
