Mr. Lakhani is an Associate Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Accounting and Financial Reporting advisory team within the firm’s Transaction Advisory Services practice, where he assists clients through the accounting and financial reporting complexities of U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and other international GAAP matters, as well as SEC reporting issues. He has more than a decade of experience serving clients in different geographies. Mr. Lakhani is based in the firm’s Gurugram office.
Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Lakhani served as a Senior Manager in EY’s Financial Accounting Advisory Services team. Before that, he was an Assistant Manager in Grant Thornton India’s Audit Practice.
Mr. Lakhani has helped clients navigate accounting and financial reporting requirements during M&A, IPO, and SPAC deals. He has extensive experience in assisting clients with end-to-end implementation of new accounting standards, such as revenue recognition and lease accounting. In addition, Mr. Lakhani has led teams in performing diagnostics, GAAP assessments, and quantification of impact according to accounting standards, ensuring transition and disclosure requirements are met.
He has also assisted in writing accounting policies and position papers on various technical accounting topics, such as financial instruments, share-based payments, hedge accounting, and consolidation, according to IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
Mr. Lakhani earned a B.Com from Delhi University, is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and holds Diploma in IFRS from ACCA.
