Mr. Chiu is a Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Financial and Valuation Advisory business. He has more than 12 years of experience providing valuation services to leading private equity firms, venture capital and growth equity investors, hedge funds, asset managers, and corporations. Mr. Chiu specializes in the valuation of illiquid securities across a broad range of industries. He is based in the firm’s San Francisco office.
Mr. Chiu has extensive experience valuing complex equity instruments in growth equity companies, including preferred equity, SAFEs, convertible notes, warrants, and other complex equity securities. He also advises buyout funds on the valuation of majority-owned portfolio companies and has significant experience valuing complex debt instruments, including venture debt, debt issued with warrants, mezzanine debt, distressed debt, and other structured debt securities.
In addition to his client work, Mr. Chiu is the author of Houlihan Lokey’s semi-annual Growth Equity Valuation U.S. Snapshot, which provides insights into market trends, valuation developments, and key issues shaping the U.S. growth equity landscape.
Before joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Chiu was an Associate in the Portfolio Valuation practice at Duff & Phelps.
Mr. Chiu graduated with honors from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration.
