Mr. Schoennagel is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Capital Markets Group and serves as Head of Sponsor Finance, Europe.
Mr. Schoennagel’s primary responsibilities include working with clients to raise debt capital to support general corporate purposes, recapitalisations, leveraged buyouts, growth capital, restructurings, and acquisitions. Since joining Houlihan Lokey, he has advised both sponsors and corporates on more than 75 transactions in the European market, covering a wide array of industries and situations and totalling more than €13 billion of financing commitments.
Before joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Schoennagel spent a decade as a credit investor at GE Capital, where he most recently served as a Senior Vice President in its Corporate Finance group. He previously completed assignments in GE Capital’s leveraged loan, restructuring finance, and asset-based lending teams.
Mr. Schoennagel serves as Trustee of LIA’S WINGS, a UK-based national charity named in memory of his daughter, Emilia “Lia” Schoennagel, who tragically died aged five in 2022. The charity is dedicated to the urgent medical air transport of infants and children.
Mr. Schoennagel graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University with a BSc in Business Administration.
