Mr. Kataruka is a Senior Vice President in Houlihan Lokey’s Financial Restructuring Group. He is primarily focused on transactions in Asia and is based in the firm’s Singapore office.
Since joining the firm in 2014, he has worked on a number of restructuring and distressed engagements advising both debtors and creditors across a wide range of industries. Mr. Kataruka’s disclosable transaction experience includes China Fishery Group, Global A&T Electronics, KrisEnergy, Pacific International Lines, and Pearl Holdings in Singapore; Noble Group Holdings in Hong Kong; Malaysia Airlines in Malaysia; Rolta and Suzlon Energy in India; Bakrie & Brothers, Berau Coal Energy, and Bumi Resources in Indonesia; China Shanshui Cement Group, Hilong Holding, and Winsway in China; Paladin Energy in Australia; and Oro Negro in Mexico.
Before joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Kataruka worked at Abacus Capital, a boutique corporate finance advisory group that specializes in providing advice on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets solutions to corporates across Southeast Asia.
Mr. Kataruka graduated magna cum laude from Singapore Management University with a double degree in Business Management and Economics. He was also awarded the CFA charter in July 2016.
