Mr. Shamsi is a Managing Director and Head of Secondaries at Houlihan Lokey, where he focuses on advising alternative asset managers and their investors on a broad range of strategic transactions, including single-asset and multi-asset continuation funds, LP tenders, sales of portfolios of direct investments, bespoke capital raises, and a variety of accelerated liquidity transactions. He has more than two decades of advisory experience, with nearly two decades of experience focused on the secondary market and private equity advisory. Over the course of his secondary advisory career, Mr. Shamsi has advised on more than $14 billion of transaction volume. He is based in the firm’s New York office.
Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Shamsi was at Credit Suisse, where he led secondary advisory activities in the Americas as a member of the Private Fund Group’s Capital Solutions team. Before Credit Suisse, he was a Managing Director at Evercore, where he was a founding member of the Private Capital Advisory group. Previous to that, Mr. Shamsi was a Director in the UBS Private Funds Group focused on secondary advisory and an investor at Heyman Investment Associates, now known as Standard Industries. He started his career as a management consultant advising the financial services industry.
Mr. Shamsi holds a B.A. from Columbia University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
