Managing Director

Mr. Kolbrenner is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Business Services Group and leads the firm’s Engineering & Infrastructure Services practice. He also sits on the firm’s Management Committee. Mr. Kolbrenner is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office.

Mr. Kolbrenner has executed a broad range of transactions over his career, including sellside and buyside M&A, financings, restructurings, and strategic advisory engagements. His clients have included industry leaders such as AECOM, Anser Advisory, Black & Veatch, Burns & McDonnell, CHA, ENTRUST (formerly EN Engineering), GFT (formerly Gannett Fleming and TranSystems), Hill International, HNTB, Kleinfelder, Parsons Brinckerhoff, Parsons Corp., Primoris Services, Stratus, STV Group, TRC, Vortex, and many others. A frequent speaker at engineering and infrastructure services industry events, Mr. Kolbrenner is also a former member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).

Deeply committed to charitable work, Mr. Kolbrenner chairs the Houlihan Lokey Impacts Committee and serves on the Board of Governors for the Los Angeles Region of Pacific Clinics, a nonprofit delivering critical mental and behavioral health services to children and families across California. In addition, he donated 100% of his $145,000 winnings from his 2021 appearance on Wheel of Fortune—a record for a male contestant—to Pacific Clinics and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Kolbrenner was an Associate in the asset securitization group at Lehman Brothers. He began his career as a corporate associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and financial derivatives. 

Mr. Kolbrenner graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
