Mr. Murai is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Industrials Group. He has nearly two decades of investment banking experience and has advised on a wide range of buyside and sellside transactions. Throughout his career, Mr. Murai has led cross-border and Japanese M&A transactions, advising Japanese companies in various sectors. He is based in the firm’s Tokyo office.
Previously, Mr. Murai was a Managing Director at GCA Corporation, which was acquired by Houlihan Lokey in 2021. After joining GCA in 2006, he transferred to the firm’s Frankfurt office in 2013 and subsequently to London in 2016. In Europe, Mr. Murai focused on originating cross-border transactions between Japan and Europe, the Middle East, and Russia. Earlier, he worked in the Tax Services division at PwC, where he was involved in corporate tax advice related to M&A in various industries, corporate reorganizations, and tax issues for cross-border transactions.
Mr. Murai holds a B.A. in Commerce from Meiji University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Japan.
