Mr. Smartt is a Director and Head of Houlihan Lokey’s Digital Value Creation team within the firm’s Transaction Advisory Services practice. He has extensive deal experience, having worked for more than a decade in a combination of advisory and investment roles. Mr. Smartt is based in the firm’s Dallas office.
Mr. Smartt started his career in KPMG’s Transaction Services group, where he provided financial due diligence to both private equity and strategic buyers. Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Smartt was a Vice President at Commodore Partners, a family investment office based in Dallas, where he spent seven years sourcing, structuring, and closing transactions.
Due to his technical knowledge of programming languages and his prior accounting and finance roles, Mr. Smartt brings a unique perspective that bridges finance, accounting, and data analytics.
Mr. Smartt holds a B.S. in Finance and Computer Science and an M.S. in Accounting from Wake Forest University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of North Carolina and a CFA charterholder.
