Mr. Shortland is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s FinTech Group, where he co-leads the European Financial Services & Technology team. He has more than two decades of M&A experience across Europe and the US. Mr. Shortland is based in the firm’s London office.
Mr. Shortland has worked on numerous M&A transactions across the insurance, wealth management, data, and FinTech sectors. Notable recent deals include advising TA Associates on its investment in MRH Trowe; the sale of specialist insurance broker Klap to Ardonagh Group; the sale of Bionic to Omers Private Equity; the sale of Tempcover to the RVU Group; the sale of Colmore to Prequin; the sale of Web Financial to Allfunds; the sale of Alveo to STG Partners; Broadridge’s acquisition of Itiviti; the sale of Voogd & Voogd to Five Arrows Principal Investments; Dynamo Group Ltd.’s shareholders on a majority investment from Francisco Partners; Third Bridge Group Ltd. on its investment from IK Investment Partners; FactSet on its acquisition of BISAM Technologies; the sale of 4sight Financial Software to Broadridge Financial Solutions; the sale of AerData Group B.V. to Boeing; and Five Arrows Principal Investments on its acquisition of Karnov Group.
Previously, Mr. Shortland was a Managing Director at Quayle Munro prior to its acquisition by Houlihan Lokey in 2018. Before that, he spent two and a half years as Head of Corporate Development in Thomson Reuters’ Markets division and has held a number of senior-level business and M&A roles within Reuters plc.
Mr. Shortland holds a degree in Commerce from the University of Birmingham and is a qualified Chartered Accountant in England and Wales.
