Summer Internship Program in the U.S.
Our summer internship program, which runs from June to August each year, offers college juniors and first-year MBAs unique insight into investment banking and a taste of life at Houlihan Lokey.
The 10-week program takes place at our U.S. offices and operates across a number of key business areas. All interns complete a week-long training program before linking up with their specific business area team for the remainder of their internship.
While many of our interns go on to take up Financial Analyst or Associate positions with us the following July, a summer internship with Houlihan Lokey is never just practice for the real thing. No matter which team you are placed with, you can expect real-life exposure, doing real work at the front line of projects and transactions.
Because we typically manage a greater deal volume than other banks, and our teams are smaller, your input is especially important. You’ll be expected to step up, think for yourself, and make yourself heard—because your colleagues want to hear what you have to say.
Learning, Development, and Mobility
The summer internship program begins with a comprehensive one-week training program. From there, the training continues on the job. In return for your contribution, you can expect to receive continuous support and encouragement as well as excellent learning and development opportunities. Every day, you’ll have the chance to develop your knowledge, ask questions, and learn from some of the best people in the business.
Whichever part of the business you’re placed with, you can expect to work on real projects, supporting live deals and having a tangible impact on your team’s achievements day to day. Successful interns are invited to return after completing their studies to undertake training in New York, before being welcomed as full-time members of our team.

What We Look For
We look for highly motivated individuals with a strong academic track record who are on course to achieve a bachelor’s, master’s, or MBA degree. Equally, in addition to intellectual rigor, we are looking for those with the passion, hunger, and curiosity required to succeed in our industry.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills are important, as are excellent verbal and written communication skills; and, as we expand geographically, the ability to speak one or more additional languages is always helpful.
Above all, you must be highly motivated and able to demonstrate a genuine interest in investment banking, along with the ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff in a demanding and rapidly changing environment.
